THOSE BOOTS

‘Before you judge a [person], walk a mile in [their] shoes’ – in this case it’s boots. In THOSE BOOTS (417 words) Maya learns about her mother’s past through her grandmother’s memories that are triggered by a box full of various boots. Maya begins to see her mother as a complete person, with interests and flaws beyond the person she knows in her role as ‘mother’. Identifying a common bound she realizes they are not that different. THOSE BOOTS is an intergenerational story that highlights relatable experiences and life’s milestones. Would appeal to those who like Two Hand to Love You, Love You Forever and The Remember Balloons.
